Bruxism And Headaches Information

If you have persistent headaches, toothaches, shoulder and neck pain and unusual wearing of the teeth and don’t know why then you might want to talk to your dentist about tooth clenching.

Bruxism has been causing headaches in children and adults and a vast array of other problems for as long as people have been getting headaches. Although headaches stemming from tooth clenching are much more common with children, more so under the age of 5 years old, adults still suffer as well.

Investigation has shown that tooth clenching can happen for many different reasons. Many children clench their teeth at night while they are sleeping. Sometimes family members that sleep closely to these children will mention the loud grinding noises that the child makes when they are in deep sleep. Daily stresses in a child’s life is the reason for the child to grind their teeth like this.

There could be different reasons for children to grind their teeth like interacting with other children or it could have something to do with what they are doing directly before they go to bed. Recent research have indicated that children may be getting headaches because of tooth clenching as a result of a variety of electronic games they play before bedtime.
